National
Depression Screening Day
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at St. Luke's and Roosevelt
Hospitals participated in the national screening day in 2008, 2007 and
2006. Screenings for depression as well as information on the over 35
behavioral health programs within the department was made available for
members of the community. Over 40 of the departments' clinicians participated
with direct patient referrals made by our Access Center during the event.

Art with a Heart

The article discusses the initiative that was created by the Department
of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health to beautify both the inpatient and
outpatient units. By partnering with organizations such as RxArt, a not
for profit organization that places original art in hospital settings,
the department was able to raise funds and receive donations of both funds
and art. The Art Advisory Board made up of Drs, artists and clinicians,
selects pieces considering the potential psychiatric effects of the art
on patients.
