Core Measures Performance: Publicly Reported Information
You can compare quality of care among hospitals by looking at publicly reported hospital report cards. Core measures, established by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in 2002, gauge a hospital’s performance in following national standards of care—that is, specific steps for prevention or treatment—for distinct conditions. These standards are based on evidence and research and have been shown to get the best results for patients. Here we report on acute myocardial infarction (heart attack), heart failure, pneumonia, surgical infection, patient falls with injury, and hospital-acquired infection rate: colon. CMS reports the top 10% of the most successful hospitals across the country for each measure. We are proud to share our results with you and will update them regularly. We remain committed to becoming a Core Measures top-tier performer. |
