The Women's Comprehensive Headache Center

The Women's Comprehensive Headache Center, the first of its kind in the nation, is dedicated exclusively to the diagnosis and treatment of women with headache. Working in conjunction with our neurologists is a select group of specialists with knowledge of headache, from such disciplines as obstetrics and gynecology, endocrinology, internal medicine, cardiology and psychiatry. It is a part of The Headache Institute at the Roosevelt Division of St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center.

Hormonal headaches — in particular, those complicated by menstruation, pregnancy, oral contraceptive use, peri- and post-menopause and hormone replacement therapy — are the kinds of disorders most frequently seen and treated here. Understanding the causes and factors related to such headaches, our headache specialists are trained to diagnose and treat these unique disorders that are all too often misdiagnosed or completely unrecognized. Specialists at the Women's Comprehensive Headache Center work closely with our patients' obstetricians, gynecologists and primary care physicians to ensure that the most appropriate treatment is provided.

In addition, educational programs, seminars and support groups are offered to sufferers and the general public alike, encouraging women who have gone untreated to seek medical advice and help. With the knowledge at hand today, coupled with the answers that await us in the very near future, the Women's Comprehensive Headache Center stands committed to all women with headache to treat their pain and improve their quality of life.
